Osun police nab serial housebreaker, recover stolen items

Detectives of the Osun State Police Command, in collaboration with residents of the Abidogun community in Ota-Efun, have arrested a suspected serial housebreaker and two of his accomplices.

Acting on intelligence and with the support of vigilant residents, police operatives apprehended Adewumi Ademola Olaosun, aged 42, who was reportedly caught unlawfully breaking into a residence. Items allegedly stolen from the premises included: One LG plasma TV, One 6kg gas cylinder, one umbrella.

Confirming the arrest, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, said the suspect was caught at the scene with the assistance of community members who responded swiftly to the victim’s distress call.

Following a thorough investigation, two additional suspects—Adedokun Isiaka (57) and Abdullahi Hassan (62)—were also arrested. According to DSP Ojelabi, the duo are suspected to be receivers of the stolen items.

Ojelabi further revealed that the suspects had been terrorizing the Abidogun and Kelebe communities, adding that during interrogation, they confessed to multiple incidents of housebreaking and theft in the area.

He also disclosed that four other victims had positively identified the suspects as the perpetrators of previous burglaries reported on April 24, 2025.
