The Tanimu Turaki-led National Working Committee of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged President Bola Tinubu and the security hierarchy to adopt a “whole-of-society’’ approach toward solving the security challenge currently facing Nigeria.

The faction’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr Ini Ememobong, who stated this in a statement in Abuja on Thursday, advised government to address the security challenge in a proactive manner.

Ememobong said that the advice was critical, following the just-released Global Terrorism Index 2026 by the Institute for Economics and Peace.

He noted that in the report, Nigeria was ranked fourth in the world on the impact of terrorism survey and one of the two countries with highest number of deaths from terrorism.

Ememobong called for programmes and policies capable of delivering negative peace (cessation of attacks and incidents) immediately and providing the basis for positive peace (voluntary and unforced harmonious co-existence).

According to him, the primary duty of every government is protection of lives and property.

He, therefore, called on the president to deploy his ‘political mastery’ to proffer solutions to the country’s security challenge.
