City hotelier, Chief Richard Lamai, has thrown his hat into the race to represent the people of Etsako Federal Constituency in next year’s general elections at the national assembly. He has joined the race to provide an alignment between the potentials of his people and progressive representation to ensure maximum democratic dividends for his people.
In a recent chat with The Daily Monitor, after a grueling campaign stops through his constituency, Chief Lamai, was emphatic that he knows the problems of his people having lived with them and through his Emike Richard Lamai Foundation, which has been providing succor to the people for years.
“The Emike Richard Lamai Foundation has been on the ground for years. We provide the people with boreholes, pay school fees and provide healthcare for our mothers and children. This is how I come face to face with the problems of my people daily.
“All these are done with my little resources. So, I have decided to throw my hat into the race so that I can do more for them”
Chief Lamai, who appears to be following the footsteps of his legendry late father, Senator E.A Lamai, who for several years represented the people of Kukuruku Division of Etsako land, has a four point agenda with which he hopes to take his people out of poverty when voted into power.
According to the politician, his dream is to turn his constituency into the food basket of Etsako land by securing grants and equipment for “our local farmers”. The effect of that is to provide employment for the people and ensure that food will always be available.
Chief Lamai hopes to move the youths away from the famed stomach infrastructure to real empowerment through the digital hub, where the youths will be encouraged to be tech savvy through the Richad Lamai Prize for Excellence.
The business man and politician, also promised to provide healthcare for all by ensuring that all health centers in the constituency are always stocked with the needed drugs round the clock and properly staffed with professionals.
Chief Lamai added that with his wide contacts around the country, he believes that a seat at the green chambers of the national assembly, means his people of Etsako East, West and Central will no longer be overlooked for federal roads and power projects.
Above all, Chief Lamai, a bridge builder of repute, believes that leadership is a contract and his word is his bond . He believes strongly that with unity of purpose, progress for his constituency will be the goal.
