The President of the Africa Regional Council of Women and Board Member of the International Council of Women, Dr. Gloria Laraba Shoda, has called on Christian women and families across Nigeria and the globe to remain steadfast in their faith. In a powerful Easter message, Dr. Shoda emphasized the importance of looking unto God as a source of strength, particularly as nations grapple with prevailing global economic hardships that have strained many households.
Addressing the rising difficulties affecting the socio-economic landscape, Dr. Shoda urged believers not to succumb to despair. She stressed that the resurrection of Jesus Christ serves as a definitive assurance of divine hope and restoration. According to her, the essence of the season should serve as a reminder that no matter how daunting the current climate appears, the victory of Christ provides a foundation for spiritual and emotional resilience.
Drawing inspiration from the Holy Scriptures, she reminded the faithful of the eternal truth found in Colossians 1:27, “Christ in you, the hope of glory.” Dr. Shoda noted that this biblical promise should inspire unwavering confidence and trust in God’s provision. She encouraged families to anchor their faith firmly, asserting that the divine ability to sustain and lead through uncertainty remains unfailing for those who believe.
Beyond economic concerns, Dr. Shoda extended heartfelt prayers to those living in conflict-prone areas, specifically mentioning women and families in Plateau State and other regions of Nigeria. She also acknowledged the plight of global communities currently facing violence and war, praying for God to comfort the grieving and provide strength to those living under the shadow of fear. Her message underscored a deep yearning for lasting peace in troubled regions worldwide.
Furthermore, the women’s leader interceded for divine provision for families experiencing extreme hardship. She asked for a restoration of joy, stability, and security in homes that have been fractured by lack or instability. “May the risen Christ bring healing to the brokenhearted and peace to our nations,” she stated, adding that the faithfulness of God remains ever-present even in the most trying circumstances.
Concluding her message, Dr. Shoda issued a charge to Christian women to continue serving as pillars of strength and unity within their respective families and communities. She emphasized that their role as intercessors and stabilizers is more crucial now than ever. By standing in faith and fostering unity, she believes women can lead the way in navigating the challenges of the current era with grace and courage.
