Former Minister of Youth and Sports Solomon Dalung has lambasted the INEC chairman Joash Amupitan describing him as a dishonest man of poor integrity.
Dalung who did not hide his ill- feeling against INEC chairman said he was surprised when President Tinubu announced Amupitan’s name as head of INEC, currently facing severe criticism and protest by opposition party over de-recognition of ADC.
The fearless and courageous former Minister Dalung made these assertions in his widely circulated social media posting obtained by our correspondent Wednesday in Kaduna.
Dalung posting which sparked up reactions among the ranking members of of Middle Belt social media group chat, turned the criticism to religious sentiment among the group with some of them asking if Dalung is a Christian.
Some others question the integrity of Dalung for going extra miles to write and post such statement against Amupitan his Christian brother.
The Dalung statement reads in parts: “INEC chairman and I were colleagues in Unijos. The man has Zero Integrity” – Solomon Dalung”.
“Prof Joash Amupitan was my colleague in UNIJOS … the man has Zero Integrity” – Solomon Dalung
“I was surprised when Tinubu announced someone like him to head INEC.
“That man has no integrity. He is deceitful and unscrupulous. I have known him since 1991 at the University of Jos, first as a student in his department, and later as a colleague in the same Faculty of Law. We both served as lecturers in the faculty.
“During the 2009/2010 academic session, when he was Dean, the results of 16 students who earned second-class upper division were tampered with and reassigned to so-called “special students.
“These “special students” were wealthy and sometimes influential individuals who were not even regular in school, but used their money and influence to acquire results that did not belong to them.
“I stood up and fought for those poor but brilliant students until their results were restored. Prof Amupitan did everything possible to silence me, but I refused.
“I know Amupitan very very well. He is someone I have worked closely with. He does not have integrity and he knows it”, Dalung stated..
Incidentally, the post sparked up ridiculous reactions, with some of them shared in the middle blet social media chat group by members on 8th April 2026, hammering religious sentiment while others are personal, with political inclinations.
While many are against Dalung for exposing same religious faith, some are not but dismissed religious sentiment for important national issues threatening future, growth and development of Nigeria.
The reactions reads: “Oh Solomon dalung, through out all the masifa Mahmood Ibrahim cos in this country today no single Muslim go against him but you are here today when your fellow Christian is privileged to be in same seat you castigating against him why?
“He represents everything that threatens the survival of the middle belt, our children living or yet unborn.
“No be small thing sir, they have turned everyone mentality on now to go after religious sentiment
“This is what is wrong with Nigeria!
You cannot criticize someone without picking the religious card or tribe.
“It’s that unfortunate that we can’t separate these sentiments apart when talking about important stuff that make all of us progress together.
“Is he really a Christian?
All I know is that he is a typical fulani. Find out why Buhari appointed minister please.
“Hahahaha. No sir he’s not a Fulani man he’s a Tarok man from Langtang north Local government area of plateau State sir.
“And so what? You with the integrity you are not given that opportunity, the only what we know how to do best is condemnation of ourselves, Jos plateau is bleeding, killing’s every day, you and your integrity you have no solutions to offer but to open your mouth and start condemning your brother shame on you Mr Solomon Dalung.
“Kindly check very well please. May be his mother is but not his biological father.
It is only when we get to situations such as this one, that facts begin to emerge please.
“I may be wrong, but in my opinion, one’s religious background shouldn’t cover wrong doings. Whether Christian or Muslim, standing on the side of fairness, truth and justice should be our concern.
“We shouldn’t garnish/cover someone’s wrong doings because we profess the same faith. We can never get/achieve Nigeria of our dreams with such mindset. Shalom.
