El Rufai arraigned in Kaduna amid tight security
El Rufai arrives court in Kaduna
Former Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State, on Tuesday, arrived the Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna, amidst tight security for arraignment by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC on allegations of corruption-related offences.
Heavily armed personnel from different security agencies, which include the DSS, The Police, and NSCDC were deployed around the court and the environs to forestall breakdown of law and order.
The ICPC is charging El-Rufai with conversion and possession of public property, and money laundering (FHC/KD/73/2026). Another charge was filed against him and Amadu Sule at a Kaduna State High Court for abuse of office, fraud, and intent to commit fraud.
El-Rufai’s lawyers claim his arrest and detention by the ICPC were unlawful. He denies wrongdoing, calling the investigations politically motivated.
