Student accused of bullying

Many parents have shared their opinions by calling for thorough investigations and more actions concerning the recent bullying of an unidentified student that happened at Igbinedion Secondary School in Benin City, Edo State.
A horrific video surfaced online in which  senior students at the institution, allegedly called Dino Uyi and Choice Asoro aggressively bullied another student.
The Daily Monitor gathered that the boy who was bullied has no father and his mother who uses a wheelchair is sick.
It was disclosed that Dino and Choice have been expelled from the school.
Unconfirmed reports disclosed that Dino Uyi’s father who went to the school and took him after Dino was expelled, is a bank manager, while Choice is the son of the Managing Director, Aso Time Hotel.
Below are people’s opinions on the incident:
Florathedigitalbanker: They likely assumed that his involvement would go unnoticed, because his face was blurry in the video, but further checks have brought more details to light. Dino Uyi has now been expelled alongside his colleague, Choice Osarumen Asoro.
Not just Expulsion, they should face the consequences of their actions, so that they will not try it next time.
Choice is the fair in complexion student that later joined Dino Uyi in beating up their fellow student.
Dino Uyi had done more damage to that boy’s head before Choice joined him. At least from the video we saw. Both of them have been expelled from the school, but the mother in me is not satisfied.
If we don’t have laws in Nigeria that can allow teenagers serve jail terms then provisions should be made for their parents to serve on their behalf.
Both Dino Uyi and Choice Osarumen Asoro parents should be given fair sentences.
Okerafor Patience: Every parent should teach their children to speak out and also know about self defense no matter who the parents of the bully are. Both parents can also settle the quarrel anyhow. You sent your child to school without home training expecting nanny and teachers to train him or her, that is not acceptable at all.
Basillia Ibeh: As someone in the educational environment,
I support their expulsion and also suggest that no school within Nigeria should accept them as a deterrence to others.
Uzoamaka Egemba: I know parents who did a good job with raising their children only for one child to stain their white.
If you are a parent here, I hereby advise you to be careful with your utterances, because it could be your turn tomorrow and no one should blame parents.
Bullies are sad children, but you cant blame a parent struggling to make sure he or she provides for his or her family.
Today we are calling house wives lazy for focusing only on the family without money, tomorrow we call working parents for not being present in their children’s life.
If you are a working parent or a house wife like me, this is an opportunity to see that it could be your children beating up someone or your child been beaten up.
Either way please talk to your children and pray.
Vera Oboro: Honestly I don’t know what to say about this whole issue, but firstly that expulsion was too quick. They should have treated the bullied child and made sure all is well, then bring all those involved out by investigating properly. They supposed to suspend them with a condition of not removing them from the school, and insist that they must go to rehab during the period of suspension for a year or two after serious public flogging. This will serve as example to others.

Joseph C.: Teach your children to report to the school authority before it gets to this level of mob action. Teach them to fight back in self defense and make very good use of any handy weapon when it gets to this level of group beating. Save yourself first and report later.

Kenneth O.: The camera person was apparently the one begging the bully (senior), saying: “boss abeg na, e don do; abeg boss.” He could have been forced to video the incident and as a junior, he had no say to avoid being victimized too. As can be seen in the video, the said Choice collected the phone from the junior student begging them to stop which validates my thought. Moreover, if not for the recording, the incident wouldn’t have come to public glare.
