The League of 2027 Osun State House of Assembly Aspirants (OSHA 2027 Aspirants) has unequivocally declared its unwavering support for the re-election bid of Governor Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, and firmly dismissed circulating rumours suggesting the allocation of automatic tickets to the incumbent members of the Osun State House of Assembly in the forthcoming party primaries.

In a statement issued today by the group in Osogbo, Osun State, the League emphasized that the political antecedents of Governor Ademola Adeleke, and, by extension, the Adeleke political dynasty, clearly reflect a strong commitment to democratic principles, and stressed that no form of autocratic arrangement or undemocratic proposal can thrive under the watch of the administration.

The League further noted that Governor Adeleke’s emergence as Governor of Osun State was a direct result of strict adherence to the provisions of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) and the Electoral Act (as amended). These legal frameworks, it stated, provide clear guidelines on eligibility for political office and the procedures for selecting candidates to represent political parties in elections.

According to the League, both the Constitution and the Electoral Act explicitly outline the rights of citizens to participate in the democratic process. It cited Chapter IV of the 1999 Constitution, which guarantees the fundamental rights of all Nigerians, including the right to vote and to be voted for. It also referenced Section 84 – 87 of the Nigeria’s Electoral Act 2026, which details the procedures political parties must follow in nominating candidates for general elections. In cases of ambiguity, the League noted that Section 6(6) of the Constitution provides the judiciary with the authority to interpret such provisions.

However, the League expressed deep concern over the persistent rumours surrounding the alleged plan to grant automatic tickets to incumbent lawmakers. It described the idea as not only alien to Nigeria’s legal framework but also contrary to the moral sensibilities, political traditions, and democratic ethos of Osun State. The League warned that such a development could have adverse implications for the electoral prospects of the party.

The group referenced recent developments in the Ife Federal Constituency, where some party members reportedly submitted a public petition opposing the alleged plan. It noted that this reaction could be indicative of a broader statewide backlash should the rumours materialize.

The League recalled that it had earlier engaged with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) State Working Committee when the rumours first surfaced and during that engagement, the State Chairman of the party, Hon. Sunday Bisi, dismissed the claims as baseless and purely speculative.

Similarly, during a recent visit to the Osun State Working Committee of the ACCORD under the leadership of Pastor Victor Akande, the League stated that party officials also denied the existence of any such arrangement. This position, it added, has been consistently echoed by several high-ranking political stakeholders across the state.

Despite these repeated clarifications, the League expressed surprise that the misinformation continues to spread. This necessitate the reason the league deemed it necessary to publicly join other lovers of democracy in Osun to dismissed and condemned the rumors of an attempt to grant or an arrangement granting automatic tickets to incumbent members of the Osun State House of Assembly.

The League further suggested that the rumours may be a calculated attempt by opposition elements to portray the administration of Governor Adeleke as autocratic and insensitive to the will of the people of Osun State.

Reaffirming its position, the League commended the Governor, describing him as able, amiable, and indefatigable. It also praised his administration for its performance and contributions to the development of Osun State.

Finally, the League urged the Governor and key political decision-makers to remain vigilant and to resist any attempts by individuals driven by personal ambition to introduce divisive and destabilizing narratives that could undermine party unity and electoral success in the forthcoming gubernatorial and general elections.
