Two soldiers, one vigilante and seven bandits have been reported dead, following an attack on a community and Joint Task Force (JTF) base in Gwana District, Alkaleri local government area of Bauchi state.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Bauchi state command, SP Nafiu Habib stated this in a press release on Monday, stressing that three community members in the area were abducted by the bandits.
He said, the attack, which occurred on February 22, 2026, was repelled by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Police (AKU), who neutralized seven bandits during a gun duel.
SP Habib said the Bauchi state Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has ordered additional security forces to be deployed to restore order, protect displaced civilians, and prevent further attacks.
“The Commissioner of Police assures the public that monitoring and intelligence gathering are ongoing to track and arrest the fleeing assailants and rescue victims,” said the PPRO.
