Nollywood actress, Empress Njamah is a mixed bag of talent, creativity and controversy due her personal life. She is one actress that is good in her craft and has established herself in the industry over the years.

Her bulging eyes and ever-smiling face gives her a unique appearance.

Empress is also born to parents of differing nationalities – her father is a Nigerian man while her mother is Cameroonian making her Cameroonian from her mother’s side.

Growing up in Njaba, Imo State, Empress embraced both Nigerian and Cameroonian traditions. Her family, deeply rooted in education, included her twin brother, John Njamah.

Coming from of a family of creative minds that has the likes of another talented actor John Njama and movie producer and director Aquila Njama, Empress as she is fondly known to have broken the ice in her acting career in 1995. In 1999, this beautiful actress appeared as a backup dancer in Tony Tetuila’s ‘Your Kind of Woman’ video.

Aside this, this beautiful actress has featured in more than 80 movies and a couple of soap operas till date. Empress Njamah is known for the movie Count on Me, Heartbeats, The Perfect Crime Unwanted and The Man Between Us. Others are: Darling & Felix Yes, We Can Lockdown, Good Citizen, Stroke of Luck, Wedding Saga, Upon a Promise and Long Walk among many others.

In 2012, she earned a nomination for Best Supporting Actress at the Africa Movie Academy Awards, a testament to her talent and industry relevance.

Before going into acting, Empress attended the Olabisi Onabanjo University, where she read English.

An entrepreneur at heart, Empress launched a fashion line called House of Empress back in October, 2014. She also launched a foundation that caters for kids with special needs. Empress is known generally for her act of kindness reaching out to those in need including friends.

Though she is very passionate about her acting career, which has given her fame and opened other doors of opportunity, she still has her eyes on other businesses.

The actress believes that it’s good to have other backups in an industry that had its own obvious challenges.

In a recent interview she granted a national newspaper, Njamah revealed that she has not been featuring in movies because she decided to step back in other to build her other businesses.

Empress revealed that she has a spa and saloon both in Lagos and Abuja and she is doing her best to build the businesses. She explained further that it’s important for one to have something to fall back in when the movies are not coming.

“As you already know, I have House of Empress Boutique based in Abuja. I have a spa. I have a saloon. And I’ve been working on so many things, my brands. My free times I do one or two movies. You see one thing with the movie, it’s always there. But what people don’t understand is that we also need a lot to fall back on. And then it’s not easy to start something like that and you just let it be. You have to work hard to see it grow. So far it is standing. I have a branch in Abuja. I also have another one in Wuse 2.”

The actress is a fashionista and a sucker for perfumes and can identify any perfume. Her taste is the masculine perfume because she loves strong smell which can last for a while. Njamah claims she has a shrine for perfumes and has over 300 perfumes.

“Oh I’m a freak. I have a shrine. I’m not kidding. You can ask like two or three people that know me; I have over three hundred perfumes. I wear masculine perfumes. I love strong perfume because they always have an after smell. And I’m not particular about the designers. I’m particular about smell. And I can never wear one perfume. I wear like three, four perfumes at a time, so you definitely don’t know. I’m that bad; I can tell what someone is wearing, if you are wearing a known perfume. Perfume is me”, she narrated.

The beautiful as actress have had her own fair share of controversy as it had to do with her private life. Few years ago, she dated Timaya, but the relationship ended after becoming a subject of discussion on social media.

The couple’s breakup was highly publicized, with a controversy surrounding a car gift that Timaya had given to Empress. According to Timaya, the car was a Murano that Empress had requested, but he had actually received it from another woman, a fan, and had given it to Empress.

What of the leaked video with her ex-lover, Josh Wade, who tried to blackmail her with the release of the leaked video. He was however later arrested by the police. The video caused ripples in the social media and received a lot of criticism on the part of Wade.

Beyond the screen, Empress actively champions social causes, particularly those centered on children with special needs. She founded the House of Empress foundation. Through this initiative, she has consistently provided support, care, and advocacy for vulnerable children, showcasing her commitment to giving back to society.

Empress Njamah continues to leave a lasting impact in Nollywood while using her influence for meaningful causes. Her blend of artistic talent and humanitarian passion sets her apart as a multifaceted force in the Nigerian entertainment landscape.
