Why men should be paying ‘ashawo’ well -Actress Miriam Ogbonna

Beautiful Nollywood actress Miriam Ogbonna and sister to popular actor IK Ogbonna, is courting controversy with her latest comment on the social media. In a thought-provoking statement, the actress called on the men to place value on sex workers known in local parlance as ‘Ashawo’.

She said; the profession is far from easy because of the physical, emotional and psychological demands of the job.

Speaking via her social media handle, the actress shed more light on the topic a lot of people try to avoid. She said, the demands of the work are underestimated leading to unfair and low pay

For her, despite societal judgement men need to look at the sex workers with empathy. She added that sex work requires efforts, resilience. Ogbonna further pointed out that regardless of resilience, and sacrifice, such qualities deserve proper compensation.
