2027: Okpebholo-backed aspirants win APC HoR primaries

Candidates have emerged from Saturday’s primary of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the House of Representatives seats in Edo State.

 

Results were collated at each local government secretariat of the APC, while security was beefed up at the state secretariat and each of the collation centres.

 

 

It was reliably gathered that candidates backed by consensus arrangement by Governor Monday Okpebholo won in the various constituencies.

 

Dr. Paddy Iyamu emerged winner in Oredo Federal Constituency by polling 7088 votes. In Owan federal Constituency, the incumbent, Professor Julius Ihonvbere emerged the party’s flagbearer.

 

In Ovia Federal Constituency and Uhunwonde Federal constituencies Barr. Omosede Igbinedion and Hon Billy Osawaru were affirmed as they didn’t have opponents.

 

Hon. Dekeri Anamero also an incumbent won in Estako Federal Constituency while Igbinovia Osaze emerged victorious in Ikpoba-Okha/Egor Federal constituency.

 

Speaking to journalists, Iyamu described the primary as a true test of democracy adding that the victory is for all members of the party.

 

On his part, incumbent member representing Etsako Federal Constituency Hon Dekeri Anamero stated that his victory signaled total victory for the APC in 2027.

 

“It is going to be victory for all of us. It shows our internal democracy is now strengthened. People are resolved. They know their choices.

 

“This has charged me. We will deliver the votes. APC had made the right choice by voting. We are going into the election with renewed vigour.”
