A frontline governorship aspirant of the Taraba State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who doubles as former Minister of Transportation, Engr. Mu’azu Jaji Sambo has assured party faithfuls and people of the State that he’s fully ready to contest for the party’s governorship primary elections holding Thursday across the State.
Engr. Sambo who spoke in his Jalingo residence during a press conference said he’s still in the race despite all efforts to stop him. He further disclosed that the essence of the interface with Reporters was to inform the people of the State that he is committed to the process and not giving up.
“I will not step down for any individual, I’m in the race, no amount of pressure can force me to step down”, he said.
Speaking on one of the frontline aspirants who voluntarily stepped down, Engr Sambo opined that the aspirant who stepped down has made the battle easier for the two of them who are in the race.
The party’s governorship primary elections is now between him and the incumbent Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas saying, the choice of the two of them remains in the hands of the electorates and the good people of the state.
Expressing sadness over what he described as the current state of neglect and backwardness of Taraba created some thirty five years ago Sambo urged the people of the State to choose and vote wisely.
“Taraba had remained in a state of despair, a laughing stock in Nigeria when compared with 8 other states created 35 years ago. It is about purpose, it is about the future of our people, It is about the soul and destiny of Taraba State,” he stated.
“Tarabans, you called, and we answered. From the plains of Wukari to the hills of the Mambilla, from the dreams of our youth to the prayers of our elders, one message has echoed consistently across our land: A Better Taraba,” he said.
Aligning his ambition with the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Jaji said he could no longer remain passive in the face of the state’s developmental realities.
“I have decided not to remain on the fence complaining, but to join the race, standing firmly on the Renewed Hope mandate of our dear President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he noted.
Speaking further on the forthcoming party primaries, Engr Sambo added that free, fair, credible and transparent contest must be up held saying, if he loses under a transparent process, he will be the first to congratulate the governor. He stressed the importance of unity, discipline, and internal democracy within the party especially during this period of electoral processes.
“I am committed to a Taraba where government works, institutions function, businesses thrive, and the people flourish. And it all begins with the primaries”,
“We shall conduct ourselves within the ambit of decorum, strengthening the ideals of our great party, the APC, knowing that victory is assured through unity, discipline, and collective resolve,” Engr Sambo stated.
