Nollywood actress Nancy Isime, has stirred the hornet’s nest after she expressed her thought on financial stability in a relationship including marriage. According to the beautiful actress, love is not enough to stabilise a marriage and establish a good family life. She said, marriage is not a poverty alleviation scheme and so marrying a poor man cannot make any woman happy.

The actress made this observation during a recent appearance on Tea With Tay podcast. According to her, marrying a poor man will never make any woman happy as financial challenges can cause serious strain in the marriage. This she said can limit the couple’s ability to enjoy their marriage and also raise their children comfortably.

For her love, life and compatibility are crucial in every relationship, but the most important factor to consider is the economic realities. Nancy Isime however urged intending couples to achieve certain level of financial stability before getting married and having children.

Isime noted that having financial stability will help reduce tension in the marriage and also create stronger bond in the family

Her words: “Marriage is not a poverty alleviation scheme but I don’t believe marrying a poor man can make you happy.

“When rent is due, school fees can’t be paid and there is no food in the house, it is difficult to have a fantastic life.

“I am not saying there is no love without money. But love and fantastic life are not the same…”
