Minors rescued in Abia

Jubilation swept through Umuezu community in Isiala Ngwa South LGA and beyond Wednesday as three young siblings abducted last week were rescued alive and reunited with their family after a dramatic multi-state security operation.AAbia

The children—Beauty Oluebube Nwaobilor (7), Desire Nzubechi Nwaobilor (5), and Freedom Nwaobilor (2)—were found “alive and strong” and are currently in protective custody at Umuika Police Station, sources confirmed.

The siblings, children of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Nwaobilor, were reportedly taken by three women while returning from school. Their rescue marks the end of a week-long nightmare that mobilized an unprecedented response from security forces.

In a coordinated effort involving the Abia State Police Command, local vigilante groups, and other agencies, the children were tracked to three separate locations:

– One child was recovered in Ebonyi State

– Another was found in Lagos State

– The third was rescued in Opobo, Rivers State

In a major breakthrough, all three alleged female abductors have been arrested and are now in custody.

Abia State Governor Dr. Alex Chioma Otti personally received the children at his residence to verify their condition before facilitating their reunion with their parents. The governor’s direct involvement has been widely praised as a demonstration of the state’s commitment to child safety.

Community leaders commended the “unwavering resilience” of security operatives, with special recognition extended to the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Eze Nwigburu, for his role in the operation.

Even as celebrations continue, a dark cloud has emerged: reports of a fresh abduction in the same UmuezU community.

According to local sources, another group of children has gone missing under similar circumstances. The victims remain unaccounted for, sparking fear and urgency among residents.

Community leaders have issued an urgent appeal to the Abia State government and security agencies to deploy the same intensity and resources used in the Nwaobilor case to locate the new victims.

“We cannot allow this pattern to continue,” one elder stated. “The government must boycott this criminal act once and for all and strengthen security to prevent further trauma.”

Police have yet to issue an official statement on the new case, but sources say investigations are underway.
