Voting in the All Progressives Congress House of Representatives primary from Nasarawa West Senatorial District commenced late on Saturday after election materials arrived at about 2 p.m. across the five local government areas.

Mr. Ademola Ogungbemile, Secretary of the House of Representatives Primary Committee for the zone from the APC National Secretariat, had told journalists that materials for all five LGAs and 59 wards including the voters’ register and result sheets had been dispatched to various local government via their electoral officers.

Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu, representing Nasarawa West, was at his Tudun Kofa electoral ward. He commended the conduct of the exercise, saying reports from Keffi and two other LGAs, including his ward, indicated a peaceful and orderly process.

“My prayer is that this peaceful conduct by the electorate will be sustained, and at the end of the day, the aspirant desired by the people will emerge as the candidate,” he said.

Addressing the delay in the arrival of materials, Senator Wadada said, “It is quite unfortunate, but it may be due to logistics. I cannot explain what caused the late arrival, but whatever the reason, I believe it should be addressed ahead of future elections.”

On allegations of fake membership registration slips, he stated, “Any membership card not authenticated by the party should be confiscated, and the bearer arrested. That is why security personnel are present.”

Also monitoring the exercise, former APC National Chairman Senator Abdullahi Adamu lauded officials of the national secretariat for ensuring the process was not hindered. He urged local government electoral officers to conduct a free, fair, and credible election.

Speaking similarly, the Chairman of Keffi Local Government, Dr. Idris Ahmed Damagani, said the distribution and conduct of the exercise had been seamless and peaceful across the area.

“I believe the process will be successful, and the outcome will reflect democratic principles,” he said.
