Bed-wetting: Father burns daughter’s private part with hot iron

A father attacked his daughter, a minor, by pressing a hot iron on her private part for bed wetting at Unaun new site, Upenmen, in Owo Local Government area of Ondo State.

 

This was contained in a statement issued by Festus Adeusi, Head, Media and Public Relations unit, Ondo State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.

 

According to the statement, the Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Felix Ohagwu, on learning about the incident, mobilised his Divisional Police Officer, Owo A’ Division, Mr Iwatan Oluwatobi, who swiftly arrested the father for investigation.

Mrs Akinrogbe Omolara, former Special Assistant to the Governor and another social welfare officer of the ministry, Mr Bakare, took up the responsibility of ensuring that the minor was properly given medical attention at the Federal Hospital.

According to the statement, the Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Dr Seun Osamaye, used the incident to reaffirm Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa’s administration’s zero tolerance for abuse, social degradation and assault on any child in the state.

 

Dr Osamaye, who frowned at the heinous and dastardly act inflicted on the minor by her father, pledged to ensure that the victim’s father would surely face prosecution by the state government.

Dr Osamaye thanked Chief Olanrewaju Abegunde, His Royal Highness, Olunaun of Unaun-Owo, Owo LGA, Ondo State and Mr Ajibola Omotayo, Secretary, Owo Youth Assembly and Hon Olasupo Olakunori, DG Opomumero Movement, for their timely intervention to inform the state government about the incident.

She also extended her heartfelt appreciation to Doyin Adeyefa, Leader of the House, Owo Local Government, Hon. Nike Agbede, Councillor, Ijebu 2 Ward 4 , Mr Maxwell Uwashokan, a media practitioner and welfare officers of the Ministry for rising to the occasion, by ensuring that the minor was given proper attention at the police station and Federal Medical Centre, Owo, FMC, Owo, pending further action.
