Kaduna APC in fresh crisis as 55 aspirants decry neglect, marginalisation

Tension is rising in Kaduna State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) after 55 party aspirants allegedly accused the party leadership and Kaduna State Government of sidelining loyal members who stepped down for the sake of unity.

The aggrieved aspirants, under the Kaduna State House of Assembly APC Aspirants Forum 2026, said they dropped their ambitions in 2023 following appeals from party leaders, with the expectation that loyalty would be rewarded with inclusion and recognition.

In a statement issued on Friday and signed by Forum Chairman, Hon. Godwin Luka (Maisolar), and Secretary, Hon. Tahir Gambo Abubakar, the group said repeated efforts to meet with the party leadership and the state government have been ignored.

According to the forum, members voluntarily withdrew from various contests to protect party unity and improve the APC’s electoral chances, adding that months later, however, they alleged to have been shut out of appointments, consultations, and key political engagements.

The statement read: “We willingly sacrificed our personal ambitions after appeals by the leadership because we believed our loyalty, discipline and commitment to the party would be recognized and appreciated”.

“We remain committed to the ideals and success of the APC, but our patience and loyalty should not be mistaken for weakness, neither should our sacrifices be taken for granted.”it stated.

The aspirants further alleged a troubling pattern: ‘while loyal members who obeyed party directives have been neglected, those who publicly criticized the party are allegedly being rewarded with appointments and political opportunities”.

They stressed that they were not seeking special favours, but justice, fairness and recognition for the sacrifices made to strengthen the party.

The forum warned that continued neglect could dampen morale among party faithful as activities pick up ahead of the 2027 general elections.

While reaffirming loyalty to Governor Uba Sani and the APC, the group urged the governor and party leadership to urgently engage them to prevent further escalation.

They noted that many members of the forum wield significant influence in their constituencies, and their supporters are watching closely for direction as preparations for 2027 intensify.

_“We have no regrets supporting the success of our great party. However, loyalty should be rewarded. Justice, equity and fairness remain the foundation for sustaining unity and strengthening the APC ahead of future elections,”_ the statement added.

The aspirants expressed hope that dialogue would resolve the matter, saying accommodating loyal members would further consolidate the APC’s unity and electoral strength in Kaduna State.

As of press time, neither the Kaduna APC nor the Kaduna State Government had responded to the allegations.
