The Commander of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, has urged leaders of the Miyetti Allah and Fulani communities in the state to help identify and expose unregistered herders allegedly linked to criminal activities, since unidentified individuals infiltrating communities could be easily detected with the support of residents.

Adeleye gave the charge during a meeting with leaders and members of Fulani, Hausa and Miyetti Allah groups drawn from the 18 local government areas of the state.

The commander named illegal roadside trading by unidentified individuals at unauthorised locations as an activity that could serve as a cover for informants aiding criminal operations, and asked for the input of Fulani leaders on practical measures to curb kidnapping, stressing the need for collective responsibility in addressing the security challenge.

The commander reaffirmed the state government’s decision against illegal roadside trading of agricultural products (tomatoes and others) in the state, and asked the Fulani community to support the state government under Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa in the fight against kidnapping and other crimes.

Speaking on behalf of the Fulani and Hausa communities, the former Special Assistant to the Governor on Fulani Affairs, Alhaji lbrahim Gunia, pledged their support for the initiative, while expressing the appreciation of members of the Fulani and Hausa communities for the engagement, describing it as the first of its kind and calling for sustained dialogue to promote mutual understanding and trust.

The meeting, which was also attended by the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Ondo State, Mr. Samaila Sagiru, would continue in the middle of the year at a scheduled date
