A massive crowd gathered in Iragbiji and other communities across Boripe Local Government Area in a show of solidarity and support for the re-election of Governor Ademola Adeleke during the “Walk to Victory” rally.
The event, organised to sensitise residents to the achievements and developmental strides of Governor Ademola Adeleke across Osun State, attracted members of ACCORD, supporters of the governor, public office holders, traditional rulers, youth leaders, party faithful, and other stakeholders from different parts of the local government area.
Among the notable personalities who joined the rally was the leading aspirant for the Osun State House of Assembly, Boripe State Constituency on the platform of ACCORD, Hon. Alimot Tejumade Alabiamo. She participated actively in the walk alongside drummers, trumpeters, and enthusiastic supporters who repeatedly echoed calls for greater female representation in the Osun State House of Assembly.
The atmosphere became more electrifying as supporters sang and danced to solidarity songs in her honour, including the popular chant: “Alabiamo lokan, obinrin lokan, ọmọ dádá ni, ẹ jẹ́ ó ṣe.” The song, which translates to a passionate appeal for voters to give Hon. Alabiamo an opportunity to serve, resonated strongly among youths and community leaders, many of whom openly expressed confidence in her ability to represent the constituency effectively at the State Assembly.
Addressing the excited crowd, who continuously chanted “Obinrin lokan, ọmọ wa ni, ẹ jẹ́ ó ṣe,” Hon. Alabiamo expressed deep appreciation for the overwhelming support and confidence reposed in her. She urged the people to continue spreading the message of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s achievements and to mobilize more support ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
According to her, the people of Osun State have continued to witness impactful governance under Governor Adeleke, and it is important for residents to sustain their support in order to consolidate on the progress already recorded across the state.
The highlight of the rally was the address delivered by the Chairman of ACCORD in Boripe Local Government Area, Hon. Adekunle Onikola, who declared that the entire local government remains firmly committed to Governor Adeleke’s second-term ambition.
He further emphasised that the enthusiasm and energy displayed throughout the exercise confirmed that the gathering was organic and not a rented crowd. Drawing comparisons with a recent political walk organized by the APC a few weeks earlier, he noted that the turnout recorded at the ACCORD rally far surpassed expectations and signaled a victory for Governor Adeleke not only in Boripe Local Government Area but across Osun State as a whole.
In a similar vein, the Executive Chairman of Boripe Local Government Area, Hon. Babalola Wasiu Kayode, described the turnout as unprecedented and beyond expectations. He explained that they initially anticipated a modest procession aimed at symbolically demonstrating confidence in Governor Adeleke’s anticipated victory over the APC in the forthcoming election.
The “Walk to Victory” procession commenced in Iragbji, the hometown of former Osun State Governor and current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola, before moving through several towns and communities within Boripe Local Government Area.
Important personalities at the occasion were Alhaji Awolu, Alhaji Kareem Afolabi, Hon Ajayi Dauda Abiodun, Hon. Toba Alalade, Pa Philip Adeniran, Alhaja Iyabo Oyedele, Mrs. Babawale Folashade, Chief John Oyadeji, Barr. Abolarinwa Abidoye, Hon. Aleru Olasinde, Hon. Lijah Afolabi Alngo, among others.
