A leading Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Oyo State, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has declared that continuity of the present administration under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde is not negotiable.
He also maintained that welfare of the people of the state would be his priority when elected the governor in 2027.
Oguntoyinbo stated these at a media parley with the PDP Social Media Influencers at Omi-Tuntun House, Iwo Road, Ibadan, on Thursday, noting that his involvement in politics was to better the lots of the downtrodden.
He said what he stood for was to make the welfare of the citizens and residents of Oyo state a priority, “the way governor Seyi Makinde is doing presently.”
Oguntoyinbo, who is also a business tycoon, noted that to sustain the legacy of Governor Makinde, it was important for the PDP to retain power, citing some states as example, where it is same political party that has been governing them since the commencement of this political dispensation in 1999.
He pointed out that Governor Makinde was a futuristic leader, who knew that infrastructural and human development were the bedrock of economic growth of any nation, which made him focus more on infrastructure and welfare of the workers.
“We will ensure that the son of nobody becomes somebody in the state; we will ensure that the people of the state are the number one priority in whatever we are doing.
“As you can see what our leader is doing; His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde has done very good job in infrastructural development, welfare of the civil servants, free education, bursary for indigents and law students.
“All these and others need sustainability. I’m confident of the capacity to sustain them,” he said.
Oguntoyinbo assured members of the PDP in Oyo State that he would also continue to sustain their interest beyond 2027.
“Let me assure every members of our party, the PDP, that their welfare will also matter in scheme of the governance beyond 2027,” he added.
Oguntoyinbo, who revealed that he had over 1,200 staff in his private companies, promised to engage the youths productively, thereby making them to contribute their quota to the development of the state and the country at large.
“We will encourage parents to send their wards to school and ensure that the House of Assembly makes a law that will make education compulsory for wards of primary school age,” he said.
