Two suspected members of the Eiye Confraternity, Yusuf Taye, 30, and Damilola Ojo, 23, have been arrested by officers of the Ondo State Police Command, with two live cartridges, an axe and a parcel of suspected Indian hemp found in their possession.

This was according to a statement by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, made available to Daily Monitor.

The suspects were arrested on September 23, 2026, at Loro Street and Temidire Street, Ondo, respectively, following actionable intelligence received by officers of the Funbi Fagun Division.

According to the statement, preliminary investigation indicated that the suspects were affiliated with the Eiye Confraternity, since both admitted their involvement with the group during questioning.

The suspects and recovered exhibits were being processed for further investigation as at the time of filing thus report, while the case was transferred to the Command Anti-Cultism Squad, Akure, for comprehensive investigation and prosecution.

Speaking on the incident, the Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Felix Olutunbo Ohagwu, said the command remained committed to tackling cultism, violent crimes and other forms of criminality across the state

He warned youths that thuggery activities could jeopardise their future, expose them to serious legal consequences and urged them to shun cultism, violent associations and other forms of criminality.

The commissioner also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide credible and timely information to the police to enhance public safety.
