Thugs retreat after NDC youths draw battleline over rally in Delta  

There was almost a break down of law and order when some thugs, emerged to disrupt the rally being hosted by members of the Nigeria Democratic Congress in Warri Delta State, if not for the stiff resistance of the NDC youths, forcing the thugs to retreat and flee.

According to reports, APC thugs allegedly attacked NDC supporters who were conducting their campaign around Airport Road, with tensions reportedly escalating toward Jakpa Junction and PTI Road.

A source said, “APC has the right to campaign. NDC has the right to campaign. PDP has the right to campaign. Every citizen has the right to support a political movement without intimidation, harassment, or violence.

“The ballot is not a bullet. Opposition is not a crime. Political disagreement is not a declaration of war.

“No party owns Airport Road. No politician owns Jakpa Junction. No political structure owns Delta State.

“Delta belongs to its people. If you disagree with another party, campaign harder. If you oppose another candidate, present your ideas. If you believe your party is better, convince the people.

“But do not turn our streets into battlefields. Do not turn supporters into enemies. Do not make political ambition more valuable than human life.

“The people of Effurun deserve peace. The people of Warri deserve peace. The people of Delta State deserve peace.

“Let every party campaign. Let every citizen choose. Let the people decide.

“We must not normalize political violence today and complain about insecurity tomorrow.

“Democracy thrives where differences are tolerated, rights are protected, and power is pursued through persuasion—not intimidation.

“Delta State is bigger than APC. Delta State is bigger than NDC. Delta State is bigger than PDP. Delta State belongs to all of us.”
