Fidelis Duker
After emerging as NDC flagbearer for Akpabuyo, Bakassi and Calabar South Federal Constituency, Fidelis Duker has promised to deliver quality representation for his people.
The doyen of Nigeria movie industry and CEO of West Africa’s largest film festival, Abuja International Film Festival, Duker told People and Event that this was his primary motive for throwing in his hat in the race.
The party primaries which held on May 29 , 2026 incidentally fell on Duker’s birthday and it literally became a double celebration for him and teeming supporters.
In his acceptance speech, Fidelis Duker said, “With a heart full of gratitude, I write to thank you for the immense trust, support, and prayers you gave me during our party primaries held on the 29th of May 2026,—a day made even more special because it was my birthday, and you gave me the greatest gift of all: the mandate to fly our great party’s flag for the Akpabuyo, Bakassi, and Calabar South Federal Constituency.
“To the glory of God, we emerged victorious among other strong aspirants, including a former deputy governorship candidate. But this victory is not mine alone, it is ours. It belongs to every delegate, every ward chairman, every woman, youth, and elder who believed that a NEW DAWN is possible for the largest federal constituency in Cross River State.
“I have not forgotten what is at stake. I make you this solemn promise: I will not let you down.
“If elected in the general election, I will work tirelessly to deliver the benefits we have discussed—quality representation, federal projects, jobs, skills training, rural roads, solar lighting, healthcare, scholarships for our children, support for our fishermen and farmers, and direct constituency interventions that leave no community behind.
“You have given me your trust. Now I will give you my all—my voice, my energy, and my unwavering commitment to serve.
“Together, we will make Akpabuyo, Bakassi, and Calabar South a model of progress and prosperity.
“Thank you once again, great members of the NDC. Let us go forward and win the general election for the good of our people!
“Let the work begin!”
