Ayegunle Bunu community in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State was thrown into panic in the early hours of Monday, June 1, 2026, following a deadly attack by suspected armed kidnappers.
According to preliminary reports, the attackers struck at about 2:25 a.m., killing one person and leaving another injured. More than 30 people were reportedly abducted during the operation.
Sources revealed that among those kidnapped were two residents of Ayegunle Bunu — a man and a woman. The remaining victims were said to be passengers traveling in a commercial bus that was intercepted by the attackers while passing through the area.
The incident has heightened concerns over the growing security challenges facing communities and travelers along major routes in Kogi State.
As of the time of this report, security agencies have yet to issue an official statement, while efforts are ongoing to determine the exact number of victims and gather more details about the attack.
