Man in Ondo arraigned for fraudulent conversion of motor cycle

A chief magistrate’s court sitting in Akure, the Ondo State capital, has arraigned a 30-year-old man, Isaac Oluwasola, over the alleged fraudulent conversion of a motorcycle valued at N1 million.
In his ruling, the Chief Magistrate, O.T. Lebi, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N500,000 with one surety in like sum on a one-count charge of fraudulent conversion, with the case adjourned to August 7, 2026, for definite hearing.
According to the prosecutor, Augustine Omhenihen, the defendant allegedly collected a blue TVS motorcycle from Cake and Pastries Nig. Ltd. in April 2025 at FUTA South Gate, Akure, under the pretext of paying for it later.
The motorcycle’s number plate was AKR 862 VL, chassis number MD625NF5XMIC25483, and engine number 1HF3CM19025872, valued at N1,000,000.
The prosecutor alleged that the defendant failed to make payments for the motorcycle and instead converted its proceeds to his personal use.
The alleged offence contravened Section 390(9), Cap. 37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
The defendant, who was not represented by a counsel, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Omhenihen had informed the court that the prosecution would call two witnesses and sought an adjournment to enable them to prepare for trial.
