The Bauchi State Police Command said in a statement on Friday that the incident occurred on Tuesday, August 12, at about 3:15pm in Gwamma Village, Bauchi Local Government Area.
According to the Command, Aisha allegedly introduced a poisonous substance into her husband’s meal. The victim’s name was withheld.
At about 7:40pm the same day, the Command said it received a distress call from an anonymous resident of Wunti Dada Area. Operatives from ‘C’ Division, Tafawa Balewa Estate, were mobilized to the scene.
The husband was rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, where he is receiving treatment and is said to be in stable condition.

An empty bottle suspected to contain poison and remnants of the meal were recovered as exhibits.
Residents of Gwamma Village described Aisha as a teenager who was newly married. The police said no motive has been established.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, for discreet and thorough investigation. The suspect will be arraigned in court at the conclusion of investigations.
