Son allegedly murders father in Ondo

In the course of a violent altercation in Oda community in Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo State, a 38-year old man, Nsikak Kingsley, was alleged to have murdered his 65-year-old father, Adone Peter, by causing him several severe head injuries.
A statement issued by the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh and made available to Daily Monitor, disclosed that the incident left residents of Oda shocked.
The police said the incident was reported by Daniel Moses, a son of the deceased and brother to the suspect, prompting detectives to commence an investigation and the arrest of Nsikak Kingsley.
According to the statement, preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly engaged his father in a dispute on May 28, 2026, which degenerated into a physical assault.
During the attack, the deceased reportedly sustained severe injuries, particularly to the head, and was rushed to a medical facility for treatment, but was later confirmed dead by the attending doctor, despite efforts to save his life.
The remains of the deceased have since been deposited in a mortuary for preservation and autopsy, while the case transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further discreet investigation, the suspect remaining in police custody for arraignment upon the conclusion of investigations.
The Command said the arrest was part of ongoing efforts in line with the policing agenda aimed at enhancing community safety, promoting intelligence-led policing and safeguarding lives and property, with the Commissioner of Police in the state, Felix Ohagwu, condemning the act, describing it as unfortunate, reprehensible and contrary to societal values.
