The truth about my feud with Phyna -Ashumsy
Phyna
Content Creator and influencer Amarachi Amusi, popularly known as Ashumsy, has responded to allegation against her by actress Josephine Otabor popularly known as Phyna. The former Big Brother Naija winner had accused Ashumsy publicly of attempting to edge her out of a multi-million-naira Yucateco celebrity boxing bout.
In her response, Ashumsy had revealed that this is not the first or second time, a story involving her will be twisted but she has always maintained her cool. However, she has chosen to respond to the allegation against her by Phyna, so as to clear every misrepresentation.
Ashumsy in her response said, the Nigeria Boxing Federation had approached her following a recommendation from Phyna. She had to refer the proposal to her team for review before committing herself.
Ashumsy explained further that during an Instagram live on 27 August 2026, Phyna herself admitted that other celebrities had declined to fight her because they feared she would “beat them.”
The content creator said, she and her team, had the same concern because she is not a professional boxer and have the right to consider whether it was okay for her to engage in the fight or not.
Ashumsy explains more: “When I raised this with the organisers, we agreed that I could have my own separate bout, while Phyna had hers. That way, we would both still participate without having to fight each other.
“The organisers assured me they would communicate this arrangement with Phyna directly. At the time, I was also on a trip and was not in a good place to have that conversation with her myself, so I trusted they would handle it.
“But I do not need to fight Phyna because she’s reacting based on the information she got whereas, a representative in the team TEDDY, encouraged the idea to find another match and even assured me of communicating this to Phyna by herself when i was worried about that part.
“I never for once pushed for Phyna to step down, even when she mentioned “I’ll do mine first” I screamed “NO”. She and her doctored chats is in the middle of this.
“This intent was not any form of betrayal at all, as I have never advocated for Phyna’s downfall but rather supported her when I needed to.
“I’ve said what all I need to say. Meanwhile, we had private conversations in good faith and I trusted that they would be handled professionally. That trust was clearly misplaced.
“I am calling on all parties involved to professionally address how this narrative has been allowed to play out publicly without any intervention” she noted.
