She is the new kid on the block, sensational in her style of role interpretation, always mischievous and funny and can keep viewers asking for more. Obio Cynthia Oluebube seems to has been stereotype as a trouble maker who adds humour in her action in most of the movies she has appeared.
Her size makes her distinct and that’s what attracts roles to her. Obio Oluebube always grab full attention in any movie she features in because of her diminutive size, which in most cases gives her away as a child, but inside; she is bigger than who she potrays both in movies and real life.
The 22-year-old actor is famous for her funny and mischievous roles, such as playing a stubborn little girl. In a way, Aki and Paw Paw may have paved the way for the likes of Cynthia Obio. What to others may be a disadvantage, she has turned it to an advantage, which has become a money-spinning business for her. Just like Chinedu Ikedieze (Aki) and Osita Iheme (Paw paw), Obio has a reason to look at the brighter side of life and use her advantage to the fullest. Her size, has not only brought her fame and wealth; but has given her the opportunity to do what she loves most and express herself properly.
So, what informed her journey into the make-believe world? Obio said, she has always admired the actors she see on screen and wished she was part of them.
In an interview with VALOPUTE TV in 2020, Obio said:
“When I’m always watching videos, I just felt as if I am them. I just feel like acting like them, because the way they feel free, the way they talk, the way they behave, I felt to be like them”.
Ebube Obio started her journey into the entertainment industry through viral skits and collaborations with notable filmmakers. She came to public reckoning after one of her sketches Aunty Put Me Down, went viral.
Her success journey in the movie Industry started in 2019, with the help of makeup artiste turned movie producer Uche Nancy. Her first Nollywood acting experience was in the movie “Heart of a Tiger,” produced by Uche Nancy.
She has quickly climbed the ladder to become one of the most prominent actresses in Nigeria. She is famous for her short stature and petite appearance and has remained consistent with her craft. Obio Oluebube has more than 40 movies to her credit and she is not looking back.
Obio is best known for her roles in Heart of Tiger, The Small Landlady, Boss Baby, Ghetto Gospel, Engineer Veronica, House Pleasure, Crazy Hustler, Like father, like daughter, Hello Trouble, The Beast in Him, The Step Mother, Househelp Wahala and When Love Is Gone, among others.
Oluebube says, her discovery started with meeting Uche Nancy, a Nigerian make-up artist and actress who has now become her adopted mother. Uche Nancy has adopted her into her family of actors and movie makers. Uche Nancy is the biological mother of four girls, which include: Sonia Uche, Ijeoma Nnebe (Omah), Chinanu Nnebe, and Chinenye Nnebe an actress and movie producer also Ebube Obio
According Obio, she was born on 12 August 2004 in Okija, Anambra State, and grew up in a loving family. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Obio, taught her strong values. She has a biological brother -Obi Chidera Johnbosco, popularly known as Snowboy Obio. Her brother is a singer, writer and dancer
Oluebube has this to say about herself. “Though I am petite, about 4 ft 1 in (124 cm), I use my height as an advantage. It makes me stand out, and I bring a lot of energy and humor to every role I play.
I also love connecting with my fans on social media and sharing fun moments from my life. I am focused on growing my career, learning every day, and letting my talent shine.
“I was born normal, but I stopped growing at some point. I can’t question God. I just thank Him for the gift of life. Though I have faced a lot of critîcisms from people, especially those calling me a dwárf, some called me a child, but I know everything happens for a reason. My height is the reason why I’m so popular today. It made me rich” she added.
The actress has acknowledged facing bullying and mockery, during childhood but has since embraced her physical appearance as a unique attribute in her career.
Obio Oluebube attended Suuma International School, where she completed both her primary and secondary education.
In addition to acting, Oluebube has a strong presence on social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram, where her skits and personal lifestyle updates attract significant engagement.
She has worked with famous Nollywood actors and actresses like: Mercy Johnson, Destiny Etiko, Sonia Uche, Onny Michael, Nkechi Nweje, Dan David Okon, Micheal Ezuruonye, Osita Iheme and Lizzy Gold among many others.
